Hand Woven Shawl Wrap using Hand Spun Wool Art Yarn, 187/36cm.
Sunset is a beautifully textured, hand woven woolly wrap.
I hand carded various fibres on my drum carder, then wound off sections to create colourful little rolags from which to spin on my e-spinner, then weave on my rigid heddle loom.
This wrap truly is one of a kind. The yarn consists mostly of oranges and white tones, incorporating little textured pieces of colourful sari silk. I also added little woolly 'bumps' throughout the weave to create fun and interest.
,
The fibres used are - Merino, Sari Silk, Mohair and a few undyed Gotland Wool Locks for the weft yarn and Linen and Cotton for the warp. All fibres are superwash and nylon free.
This sumptuous wrap feels warm and cosy, it will certainly keep the cold air and blustery winds at bay! It's large enough to pull up over your head and ears, and still keep your neck and shoulders covered. Alternatively, the wrap could be used to throw over a chair, or lay across your knees next to a crackling winters fire.
Measurements excluding tassels approximately - 187/36cm.
The two warp ends have been finished off with hem stitch.
*The shawl pin does not come with the wrap.
Care Instructions -
Wool does not need frequent washing. A simple airing outside on a dry day should be sufficient. If you feel your item does require washing, soak in a bowl of warm water using a no rinse wool wash. DO NOT agitate, or the wool will felt. Carefully squeeze out excess water (do not wring), roll up in a towel and stand on it - this will help a lot! Re shape and lay flat to air dry outside on a warm day. Do not dry over a radiator. Whilst not in use, I suggest carefully wrapping your woolly item in a plastic bag and sealing it until required.
